Distinguishing the meanings of the verb ziehen with prefixes

The verb ziehen has the basic meaning of to pull/drag.
Example: - Er zog an der Tür, aber sie war verschlossen. (He pulled the door, but it was locked.)
- Der Fischer zog ein großes Netz voller Fische aus dem Wasser. (The fisherman pulled a large net full of fish out of the water.)
- Der Hund zog an der Leine und wollte schneller laufen. (The dog pulled on the leash and wanted to run faster.)
In addition, when combined with different prefixes, the verb ziehen takes on a wide variety of meanings:

verziehen | to dissipate, to disappear spoiled, badly behaved to contort one's face (grimacing, pursing lips, frowning…) | Das Gewitter hat sich verzogen. (The storm has passed) Dein Kind ist ganz schön verzogen! (Your child is very spoiled!) Er verzieht den Mund zu einem Lächeln. (He curled his lips into a smile) |
herziehen | to drag, pull along to mock, badmouth, tease | Sie zieht ihren Rollkoffer hinter sich her. (She pulls her suitcase behind her) Ich finde es ziemlich gemein, dass ihr immer über ihn herzieht. (I find it quite mean that you always mock him) |
hinziehen | to move to another place to feel long (endless) | Tony ist jetzt in Berlin, er ist vor 2 Monaten hingezogen. (Tony is now in Berlin, he moved there 2 months ago) Meine Güte, der Weg zieht sich aber (hin)! Das dauert ja ewig! (Oh my! This road seems to go on endlessly) |
