Passive sentences with von and durch in German

A2B1

After this lesson, you will be able to correctly form and use passive sentences with 'von' and 'durch'.

The passive voice is an essential part of German grammar, which allows us to emphasize the action rather than the doer. When we convert active sentences into passive ones, we use the auxiliary verb "werden" and transform the verb into its past participle (Partizip II). The object of the active voice becomes the subject of the passive voice. To include the doer of the action, we use either "von" or "durch" depending on the context. In this lesson, we will closely examine how to use "von" and "durch" in passive sentences.
