1. Present tense Präsens

• Formed with the Konjunktiv II of werden in the present tense (würden) and Partizip II.

• Structure: würden + Partizip II

Der Schüler würde den Lehrer fragen.

(If only the student would ask the teacher.)

⇒ Konjunktiv II im Passiv: Der Lehrer würde von dem Schüler gefragt.

(If only the teacher were asked by the student.)

1. Past tense Präteritum

• Formed with the Konjunktiv II of sein in the present tense, Partizip II and worden.

• Structure: wären + Partizip II + worden

Man hätte rechtzeitig die Rechnung bezahlt.

(If only someone had paid the bill on time.)

⇒ Konjunktiv II im Passiv: Die Rechnung wäre rechtzeitig bezahlt worden.

(If only the bill had been paid on time.)

1. Future tense Futur I

• Formed with the Konjunktiv II of werden in the present tense, Partizip II and werden.

• Structure: würden + Partizip II + werden

Nächste Woche würde der Professor meine Schule besuchen.

(If only the professor would visit my school next week.)

⇒ Konjunktiv II im Passiv: Nächste Woche würde meine Schule von Professor besucht werden.

(If only my school were visited by the professor next week.)

1. With modal verbs (Modalverben)

a. Present tense

• Formed with the Konjunktiv II of the modal verb, Partizip II and werden.

• Structure: Modalverb im Konjunktiv II + Partizip II + werden

Man könnte den Laptop früher verkaufen.(One could have sold the laptop earlier.)

⇒ Konjunktiv II im Passiv: Der Laptop könnte früher verkauft werden.

(The laptop could have been sold earlier.)

b. Past tense

• Formed with Konjunktiv II of haben, Partizip II, werden and a modal verb.

• Structure: hätten + Partizip II + werden + Modalverb (Infinitiv)

Man hätte die Weinflasche geöffnet sollen.

(One should have been able to open the wine bottle.)

⇒ Konjunktiv II im Passiv: Die Weinflasche hätte geöffnet werden sollen.

(The wine bottle should have been opened.)
