2. Equivalent unit of measurement: zwei Glas Bier oder zwei Gläser Bier?
- When 'Glas' carries the meaning of a unit of measurement (similar to Meter, Kilo, Liter), we must write it in the singular form: zwei Glas Bier
- When 'Glas' carries the meaning of an object, a physical item (a glass/cup), we must use its plural form: zwei Gläser Bier
!!! Note: This distinction is only considered for masculine and neuter nouns (ein Becher, ein Kasten,....). For feminine nouns, they are always written in the plural form: Ich trinke zwei Tassen Kaffee.
