1. Usage:

a. Used to emphasize intentions in the future:

Wir werden morgen zusammen einen Vortrag halten.

(We will give a presentation tomorrow.)

Ich werde mich mit dir im Cafe treffen. (Ich verspreche es.)

(I will meet you at the café.) "I promise."

b. Used to describe events, prophecies, and predictions in the future:

Laut Wettervorhersage wird die Sonne morgen scheinen.

(According to the weather forecast, tomorrow it will be sunny.)

Im Jahr 2050 werden wir mit Außerirdischen kommunizieren.

(We will communicate with extraterrestrials in the year 2050.)

!!! When describing future events, the present tense can be used together with a future time expression as a substitute:

Wir fahren morgen nach Köln.

(We will go to Cologne tomorrow.)

c. Used to express predictions in the present:

Wo ist Anna? Sie wird noch zu Hause sein.

(Where is Anna? She is probably still at home.)

2. Formation:

  • General formula:

………..+ werden (position 2) + …………….. + Infinitive verb.

  • The future tense with modal verbs (das Futur I mit Modalverben):

………..+ werden (vị trí số 2) + …………….. + Động từ nguyên thể + Động từ khuyết thiếu ở dạng nguyên thể.

(You will certainly have to take responsibility for your decision.)

!!! The prediction can be emphasised through the words wohl, bestimmt, sicher,…. These words usually stand immediately after the conjugated verb.

Ihr werdet sicher immer Taschengeld bekommen.

(You will always receive pocket money.)

When the direct object is a pronoun, these words will stand immediately after that object:

Ihr werdet das sicher immer bekommen.

(You will certainly always receive that.)
