Frequently asked questions
What is German C1 for?
C1 is what most German universities require for admission, and what professional work conducted in German — medicine or engineering, for instance — actually demands day to day.
How long does B2 to C1 take?
Usually 24 weeks or more, plus around 2,000 words. It is the longest stretch because progress is hard to see: what changes is accuracy and naturalness, not the number of new structures.
What should I practise most at C1?
Long-form writing and reading. C1 assesses structured argument, so writing essays and having them corrected in detail moves you faster than multiple-choice drills.
