Do I actually need C2?
For most learners, no — C1 already covers university and professional work. C2 matters if language itself is your trade: translation, journalism, teaching or research.
How is C2 different from earlier levels?
There is no grammar checklist left. Progress comes from reading, writing and arguing in German every day, and from noticing the nuances native speakers use without thinking.
How do I maintain C2?
Use German as a working language rather than a subject: read full-length books, write at length, and debate topics you are not familiar with so you have to stretch your phrasing.
