About 1,500 words on top of B1, roughly 3,700 in total. At this level raw count matters less than using the right register and the right collocations.
Is B2 enough to study in Germany?
B2 is enough for many Ausbildung programmes and some degrees, but most German universities ask for C1 or TestDaF. B2 is also the usual requirement for recognition of nursing qualifications.
How do I get past the B2 plateau?
Switch from lessons to real material: read news, listen to podcasts, watch video with German subtitles, and note down whole expressions rather than single words.
