Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-03

This page explains what Brottin collects, what it is used for, and who else sees it.

1. Account information

When you sign in we store your email, display name, avatar image if your provider sends one, and your sign-in provider's identifier.

If you use email and password, the password is stored as a scrypt hash. We never store or see the original.

You can add a bio and a cover image to your profile. Those are publicly visible if you make your profile public.

2. Learning data

We store your progress: cards learned and their review schedule, exercise and exam results, streaks, XP and GEMs, notes, and community posts if you write any.

This is used to show progress, schedule reviews and build leaderboards. It is not used for advertising.

3. What you send to AI features

Essays, recordings and questions you submit to the AI features are sent to a third-party language-model provider for processing; the result comes back and is stored with your work.

Do not put sensitive information, or other people's personal data, into those inputs.

4. Third parties

Brottin runs on third-party infrastructure and shares data with them as far as operating the service requires: hosting, a managed database, file storage, a rate-limit store, an email relay, speech and text-to-speech services, and a language-model provider.

We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for advertising.

5. Cookies

Brottin uses cookies to keep you signed in, remember your chosen language, and store appearance settings such as tone, scene and time zone. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. Retention and deletion

Data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account from the Profile page removes it and the learning data attached to it, permanently.

7. Children

Brottin is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no system is completely secure.

9. Contact

If you have a question about this policy, use the contact option in the app.
